Every week at TOPICALISE we look at a new artist, you may or may not have heard of the artist, but the article will provide information on the artist as well as songs to check out and where to find out more.
This week’s new artist of the week is Karma Kid:
Karma Kid is seventeen-year-old Derbyshire producer Sam Knowles, making phenomenal electronic music which he states is a style of music that he feels doesn’t even have “an accepted name yet”.
Its a style of music that’s not explicit dubstep, garage or house music. But, instead it’s a fusion of a variety of sound elements within the electronic spectrum, almost a bit Disclosure(ish) like . Additionally, Karma Kid often introduces subtle R&B style vocals into this effulgent, overwhelming, power musical stew.
It’s a ‘sublime stew’ which is proving ever so popular with fans and critics alike. For example, Radio 1 have been oozing over the debut Karma Kid installment of the single ‘It’s Always’ released on Bondax’s ‘Just Us Records’ on 6 August with the likes of Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw, Pete Tong and Zane Lowe constantly pressing replay- just like us. Annie Mac even made it his remix of Bwana – ‘Baby, Let Me Finish’ this weeks ‘Free Music Monday’ track and it can be download for free, here.
The future is glowing bright for Karma Kid: he’s currently continuing to produce tracks in his family’s garage and with more live gigs coming, such as Wakestock this Saturday on the East Stage, we can not wait to hear more from this teenage sensation.
